As the population of youth who age out of the foster care system grows. There is an increasing need for education and resources aimed at helping to establish and prepare our youth for a successful entry into society. The Purple Project’s 3rd Annual Foster Care Youth Conference,
“I Believe In ME
will offer interactive seminars, workshops, panel sessions and exhibits dedicated to addressing the needs of youth who are on the path to “aging out” of the foster care system or who are currently enrolled in Independent Living programs. This event is in partnership with Cleveland State University’s Department of Black Studies. Our unique, one of a kind partnership will not only allow attendees to receive interactive training; but will also introduce the youth to campus living (we will be residing in CSU’s dorms), and a variety of campus activities. Our guest speakers for this unprecedented weekend will feature the following Foster Care Advocates: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee and Emmy Award Winner Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of Run DMC, Award Winning Author Nakia R. Laushaul, Project Chat Founder and Educator Brendan Gallagher, Cherish Our Youth Founder and Motivational Speaker Cherish L. Thomas B.A.,LLMSW and Speak Life Consultant’s Educator and Founder Kevinee J. Gillmore B.A., SW. Please join us alongside: local dignitaries, hundreds of foster youth, foster care alumni, child welfare advocates and professionals as we support and strengthen our youth who are in foster care.
